Best Value New Car

Consumer Reports has named the Honda Fit as the small new car with the best overall value in its 2011 Auto Issue. The Fit was rated as the best overall value among 200 different vehicles that were analyzed. The Jeep Wrangler was ranked as the worst overall value, despite it's well-known off-road capability. A low price isn't the only thing that makes a car a good value, according to the editors at Consumer Reports. The best value list highlights models that give people more for their money.

They looked at features like performance, reliability, and ownership cost data to calculate vehicle scores with which to objectively compare the vast range of cars. While small and affordable cars are often considered value choices, some of these fared better than others. The Honda Fit has a retail price of only $16,000, but the similarly priced Chevrolet Aveo ranked as the worst value in its class, with higher owner costs and below-average reliability.
