Ford to Bring Out New Cars in Lieu of Rising Gas Prices

Witnessing the rising oil and gasoline prices, Ford is all set to launch a line of new cars. These new cars are expected to be compact and fuel efficient. Jim Farley, Head of Ford Sales and Marketing, says that these new cars will be built on Ford's new Global Focus model, as gasoline prices continue to keep rising.

Almost one third of Europe's new car sales are in the compact and fuel efficient car segment. In addition to Focus, the upcoming car models include Honda's Civic, the Chevy Cruze, the Chevy Sonic, and the Hyundai Elantra. In 2008, when the gasoline prices rose to $4 per gallon the sales in the small car segment rose to about 25% of the US market.
